The Fulton City School District is committed to positive engagement and open communication with our families and students to ensure every student achieves success. We know that regular attendance is essential for your student’s academic and social well-being. We seek your partnership in promoting regular full-day attendance in school for your children whenever they are healthy enough to attend.
Please be advised that on
November 10, 2025, attendance letter communication will be sent via Parent Square to families of students who had 4 or more absences in the first 10 weeks of school (through 10/31/25).
This specific threshold is significant because
FCSD policy guides us to monitor student attendance and initiate interventions when a student's attendance rate falls below our expected 91% rate within a 10-week period. The November 10 attendance letter communication is one example of a universal intervention.
Chronic absenteeism, defined as missing 10% or more of possible days, has been shown to negatively impact school performance, potentially resulting in gaps in reading skills, failure to meet grade level learning standards and lower job readiness skills.
We recognize in the Fulton City School District that the root causes of chronic absenteeism are vast and complex. Our purpose in providing attendance notification is to ensure communication of your child’s attendance record. Additionally, it is our hope to partner with families to help identify the cause(s) of absenteeism and reduce its impact on student learning and development.
If you have any questions or concerns related to your child’s attendance, please contact their classroom teacher, school counselor, school-home liaison and/or building principal.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring your student's success!
